Please Volunteer

CECLA offers many opportunities for individuals and clubs to get involved and become part of our community by helping out with various aspects of our farm, resource management activities, and even with our research programs.  Whether you have two hours or two weeks to donate, we’ll work hard to provide you with a rewarding volunteer experience.  We have limited (and simple) accommodations, but volunteers also are welcome to camp on CECLA property while we continue to construct more capacity to house visitors, students, and volunteers.

A few of the ways that volunteers can help include the following:

  • Harvesting crops on the farm.
  • Cropland maintenance
  • Trail creation and maintenance
  • Wildlife inventories and censuses
  • Invasive plant control

Please contact us if you are interested in volunteering.

What to expect and what to bring if WWOOFing or volunteering overnight at Dancing Cricket Farm:

Accommodations are rustic and we operate off of the grid (no electricity). There is a yurt that provides a cozy place to lounge, read, and escape the elements, but besides this you will be essentially living outdoors. We have one bunkhouse that accommodates 4 people, and many of us camp in tents. Our shower is solar heated, but gets very cold if the sun is not shining!. Cooking and dish cleaning is done on a rotating basis. You can expect to only have to cook and clean one day per week. Due to our number of volunteers, we are unable to provide transportation besides bus/ airport pick up/ drop off. If you are not traveling with a car come prepared to stay. don't worry, there is plenty of exploring to do on site!

Internet Access: The nearest internet access is at the library 2 miles away. The library is open on Tues, Wed, Thurs, and Sat. There are a few bikes at the farm for borrowing.
